Ask Wine Sense Question of the Moment
Q: What wines would you recommend to go with a nice bowl of chili?
A: Thank you for your excellent question. Wine & Chili pairing can be a bit tricky. Beer, chili & the Super Bowl are the most typical pairing but, thankfully for those of us who are not beer drinkers, there are some good wine options. The first thing you must look at when determining which type of wine will go best is the level of spiciness. If you like you chili so spicy that you need a fire extinguisher next to you...no wine will work. Chili made with light to average spice pairs well with California Zinfandel, Chilean Cabernet Sauvignon or a Malbec from Argentina. Cheers!
